Pedra de Lume on the island of Sal was a producing salt from the 18th Century through to the mid 1980’s. The production has ceased, but you can still visit the salt flats and see the conveyor used to move the salt. It is also possible to swim in the salty water where you will think you are in the Dead Sea, as you float so easily. If you are visiting Cape Verde and the island of Sal, then a visit to Pedro de Lime should be on your itinerary.
